As I sit here on this beautiful fall day, I cant help but let my mind wander to days of the early 1900's. The war was long finished, so was the Spanish American War, and we were o n the brink of WWI. Solomon Allen Solomon C Allen Born in Ohio on May 05, 1843 to the parents of Benjamin Allen and Clarissa Herssey both of New York. Solomon joined the 5th Indiana Calvary (90th Regiment) Co I on August 1, 1862 for a 3 year enlistment. He was discharged on June 26, 1865 in Indianapolis. On Jan 1 1866 He joined in marriage Rachel K Hildreth in Valparaiso. in 1869 they had their first surviving Son Fred. 3 years later came along his sister, Rhoda. By 1880 they had moved to
